FERRARI 166 MM
Ferrari mechanical jewel signed Touring Superleggera
Beautiful, with a curved and soft profile, exquisite... No, it is not a diva on the Cannes red carpet, but the mechanical jewel of Ferrari, which will remain unique in the vast production of the Maranello company: the F 166 MM.
In 1948, the Ferrari F 166 MM made its debut at the prestigious Turin Motor Show, captivating the hearts of many millionaire drivers and collectors. Its singularity of shape, the power of the V12 engine, and the lightness attributed to the aluminum - signed Touring Superleggera made it an instant classic.
Excellent performance both as a racing and road car; strictly open-top, without top. MM stands for the Mille Miglia race wh, which it won in 1949, driven by Clemente Biondetti.
The Lawyer, who had an infallible intuition for uncommon beauty, also fell in love with her.
It seems that Gianni Agnelli himself, who knew a lot about boats, defined it as a "barchetta" due to the unusual shape of the bodywork.
The Ferrari 166 MM was not just a car, it was a work of art. Its distinctive blue and green livery, complemented by a light cream interior, set it apart from the rest.
Merely 25 of these coveted vehicles were ever manufactured, making the Ferrari 166 MM a truly rare gem. Today, its commercial value is in the six-figure range, further underlining its exclusivity.
In 1994, the car was exhibited at the MoMA in New York as a masterpiece of Italian automotive style.
A scarce example of a Ferrari 166 MM went up for auction on May 20, 2023, at RM Sotheby's with a preliminary valuation of between 4 and 5 million euros.
