TALBOT LAGO T150 1938
Giuseppe Figoni (1892-1978), the French naturalised Italian car designer.
Giuseppe Figoni, a poor emigrant from Piacenza in search of work in France, distinguished himself as an apprentice in a body shop when he was just a teenager, demonstrating his talent.
In 1923, he set up his own business, creating a very personal and unique style.
The Talbot Lago T 150, produced between 1937 and 1939, was the Anglo-French manufacturer's masterpiece of the 1930s. It was built in the Figoni coachworks, active until 1940 in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Ahead of its time, Giuseppe Figoni's style gave ample scope to the aerodynamic forms, which were defined as 'droplets of water', due to the line of the front wings that flowed fluidly through the entire body of the car, from the bonnet to the windows, as if it were conceived not by a coachbuilder but by an artist.
Chapeau to Italian genius!
