MEMORABLE ANNIVERSARIES: 1951-2021 ALFA ROMEO and FORMULA 1
-
In the legendary history of Alfa Romeo, 1951 was the year that marked the culmination of an exciting experience, such as participation in Grand Prix races. The top category of single-seater circuit racing cars was born in the early post-war period. The first Formula One World Championship in history had already been won in 1950 by Nino Farina from Turin with the Alfa Romeo 158.
In 1951, Argentinean J. Manuel Fangio won his first world drivers' title, leading Alfa Romeo to win the F1 World Championship for the second time with the Alfetta 159.
Seven decades have passed, but these successes are not forgotten, just as the first beautiful racing cars, symbol of the twentieth century according to the Futurists, and the daring men who drove them remain memorable.
